King & Spalding seeks a Financial Analyst in New York to assist in reporting and modeling of financial and profitability data. You will work with internal clients to define requirements, build reports, and ensure data integrity across systems, while producing ad hoc analyses and financial models.

The role supports Partners and Senior Management, with a focus on performance metrics, benchmarking, and data-driven decision making in a fast-paced legal environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; 1-2 years in a law firm or corporate environment preferred.
• Able to translate vague directions into specific actions.
• Strong organizational skills; manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Communicate results clearly to varied audiences.
• High proficiency with Excel; advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros.
• SQL experience preferred.
• Analyze financial data and variances.
• Excellent oral and written communication; interpersonal skills.
• Maintain strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate recurring data requests for possible creation of end-user reports.
• Advance electronic distribution of reports.
• Coordinate with IT to assess data integrity across applications.
• Map data elements from various sources to target databases.
• Perform extractions from the financial system and ensure data accuracy.
• Serve as primary contact for software problems with vendors or IT Helpdesk.
• Prepare recurring and special management reports/graphs.
• Create queries across multiple tables/databases to generate data.
• Manipulate data in Excel/SQL to summarize financial reports.
• Generate ad hoc financial models and data analyses.
• Monitor key performance indicators regularly.
• Conduct competitive benchmarking analysis.
• Follow instructions and established guidelines; operate under supervision.
