Guidehouse is seeking a policy writing professional to support federal policy updates and financial management guidance in a fast-paced environment. The role requires obtaining a Public Trust clearance and collaborating with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders in Washington, DC.
You will translate complex financial concepts into clear policy language, develop briefing materials, and ensure policy compliance across multiple documents and reviews. The position includes up to 10% travel.

Guidehouse provides financial management and operations support for homeland security and law enforcement agencies. This includes assisting with financial policy updates, coordinating policy working group meetings, and conducting reviews of conference package submissions to verify they comply with applicable standards. The work is performed in a dynamic, fast‑paced policy environment where priorities evolve quickly and responsiveness is essential.
This position reports directly to the Guidehouse Project Manager and supports client activities in person out of the Washington, DC office.
What You Will Do:
Research and analyze new or updated federal laws, regulations, and standards as well as OMB guidance, DHS directives, and CBP policies to identify impacts and recommend policy updates.
Independently operate to support updates to financial management policy documents and guidance.
Translate financial and operational concepts into clear, concise, and compliant policy language.
Coordinate and facilitate policy review meetings with internal work groups, subject‑matter experts, and senior leadership. This includes scheduling, preparing materials, documenting outcomes, and tracking action items.
Collaborate across functional stakeholders to resolve comments, adjudicate feedback, facilitate consensus, maintain version control, and track approvals throughout the policy development lifecycle.
Develop briefing materials, executive summaries, decision memoranda, and presentations to support leadership review and decision‑making.
Review conference package submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable federal, departmental, and component policies.
Assess completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of submitted materials and coordinate necessary corrections or clarifications.
What You Will Need:
Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD “PUBLIC TRUST”; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
Bachelor’s degree.
THREE (3) or more years of policy writing or relative experience.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Active CBP BI, Top Secret, Secret, or reciprocity eligibility is strongly preferred.
Strong technical writing skills, with experience developing policy documentation.
Federal financial management, operations, compliance, or policy experience.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and clarity in oral and written communications.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate reviews, and work with diverse stakeholder groups, including senior leadership.
The annual salary range for this position is $98,000.00-$163,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
