Financial Planner Recruiting, LLC’s client, a fee-only Registered Investment Advisor, seeks a Senior Financial Planner to own client relationships early on, working directly with the Founder/Lead Advisor in a trusted, high-responsibility role.
Fully remote, the firm hires anywhere in the United States and runs on Pacific time; you will manage planning, tax coordination, estate work, and wealth management with support from operations, aiming for internal promotion to an advisory seat.
Our clientis a fee-only Registered Investment Advisor and multi-family office. They work with a select group of households on the whole picture — investments, financial planning, estate, retirement and tax coordination — and they do it with a small, senior team rather than a large one.
The Senior Financial Planner works directly with the Founder/Lead Advisor and carries genuine client ownership early on. You will be trusted with households to run rather than assigned to shadow someone else's. For a planner who has been one of many at a larger firm, that is the appeal: your judgment matters here, and clients feel it.
Where This Role Leads
They are building a bench rather than filling a seat — paraplanner, to planner, to advisor. This is the planner rung, and for the right person, it is a defined path to a full advisory role with your own client relationships. They promote from within because they would rather develop an advisor who already knows their clients and their standards than recruit one who doesn't. The planners who make that step there are the ones who have mastered the craft first — they can run the trade, close the estate file, and see an outstanding document all the way in. If that is the path you want, this role is built to take you there.
Fully remote, open to candidates anywhere in the United States. The firm runs on Pacific time, with client meetings concentrated in the Pacific morning and early afternoon.
The first part of the day is largely uninterrupted heads-down time, and the day finishes early by Pacific standards — one of the quieter benefits of working here. Candidates in Pacific and Mountain time find the rhythm most natural. If you are further east, they would simply encourage you to look at the local hours and feel confident they suit you; they want this to work well for the long run.
Your Team and Your Support
You will not carry all of this alone. Their operations team handles account opening, custodial paperwork, notary coordination and document filing. One of their Directors of Operations is studying for the CFP® and moving toward a paraplanning role — data collection, entry into Right Capital, estate plan summaries, and follow-up on tax and insurance items.
Where exactly that division falls is something you and she will shape together over your first ninety days. They would rather you draw that line from experience than have them guess at it now. Helping her develop is part of this role and one they value highly: a planner who can teach is a planner who scales, and it is the clearest signal they have that someone is ready for an advisory seat.
Ownership stays with you. You can hand off the work; the outcome remains yours. Every open item on your household is yours to track, including the ones someone else is executing. That accountability is what makes delegation work — and it is what their clients feel.
How They Work Together
What You Will Own
1. Client Ownership & Follow-Through
Nothing falls through. Every open item has a name and a date on it.
An active week generates a lot of open items, and keeping them moving is central to the role. You will have support on the collection work, and the judgment about what matters stays with you.
2. Planning & Advice
The plan is right, the client understands it, and the recommendations get implemented.
Trades are right the first time. This is where an operational mind pays off.
Estate files get finished, not just opened.
The repetitive parts of the work get lighter every quarter.
They intend to stay small and still grow, and thoughtful use of technology is how that works. This is a genuine part of the role, not an afterthought.
What They're Looking For
They would rather hire the right person and teach the software than screen on platform names. If you have several of these, please tell them:
This role suits someone who enjoys getting into the details and takes real satisfaction in a clean file; who wants to grow into an advisory role and is glad to earn it through the technical work; who would rather be trusted with responsibility than eased into it; who looks at a repetitive task and wonders whether it could run itself; who enjoys bringing someone else along; and for whom a day anchored to Pacific hours fits well.
It is a less natural fit for someone whose primary strength and interest is business development and building a book, or who would prefer a role with a fixed, narrowly defined scope. At a firm their size, scope moves — and they would rather say so now than have it surprise you later.
Base salary $120,000–$140,000, depending on experience, plus a target annual bonus of 15–20% of base. Total target compensation $140,000–$165,000.
The bonus is based on an individual scorecard and has been paid at target in the last year.
Benefits include a monthly health stipend, 401k, Defined benefit plan, unlimited PTO, and full support for continuing education and CFP® renewal.
