Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Financial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and distributed systems.
  • Experience with relational databases (SQL) and exposure to NoSQL or object databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on complex quantitative applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend applications supporting Capital Markets trading, pricing, and risk platforms.
  • Build scalable Python services and RESTful APIs to support front-office trading, quantitative research, and risk management functions.
  • Develop and enhance pricing models, valuation frameworks, and quantitative analytics for Fixed Income and other capital market products.
  • Partner with traders, quantitative analysts, risk managers, and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Support the development and integration of trading systems, market data platforms, and financial analytics applications.
  • Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability for high-volume, low-latency environments.
  • Integrate financial models with enterprise trading, pricing, and risk systems.
  • Participate in model validation, testing, and production support for critical trading applications.
  • Collaborate across technology and business teams to deliver innovative solutions supporting front-office and risk operations.

Jersey City | New York City
18 Month W2 Contract

Financial Engineer – Capital Markets & Fixed Income
Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical Financial Engineer to join our Capital Markets technology team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong quantitative background who combines expertise in financial products with hands-on software development skills. You will partner with traders, quants, risk managers, and technology teams to design, develop, and enhance mission-critical trading, pricing, and risk management applications across multiple asset classes.

The successful candidate will work on complex financial models, pricing engines, and trading systems supporting Fixed Income and Capital Markets businesses. This is a backend-focused engineering role requiring strong Python development experience, API design, and a deep understanding of financial instruments and quantitative methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend applications supporting Capital Markets trading, pricing, and risk platforms.

  • Fixed Income pricing and valuation models
  • Yield curve construction and interest rate modeling
  • Duration, Convexity, and DV01 calculations
  • Credit risk and counterparty exposure
  • Stress testing and scenario analysis
  • P&L attribution
  • Sensitivity analysis (Greeks)
  • Liquidity risk
  • Quantitative modeling and statistical analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing or supporting electronic trading platforms or order management systems (OMS/EMS).
  • Knowledge of financial modeling libraries and numerical methods.
  • Familiarity with market data providers and financial messaging protocols.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies and distributed computing architectures.
  • Experience with C++, Java, or other programming languages is an asset.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting, capital markets compliance, or financial controls is a plus.
