This role will support UTHealth Houston's Children's Learning Institute! CLI is the preeminent resource for learning solutions that produce tested, proven, effective results through scientific research and evidence-based interventions. The department is looking for an experienced Senior Financial Analyst with expertise in pre- and post-award grant management, budget reconciliation, and financial reporting. The Senior Financial Analyst will support the team with 28 federal and state contracts totaling $50 million. A successful candidate will be proficient in Excel, Power BI, and grant application processes, delivering data-driven insights and ensuring compliance across complex budgets.

Position Summary:
Provides professional level skills necessary to prepare and present analysis of financial projects. Prepares analytical and financial studies to ensure the institution’s assets are completely maximized.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Develops and prepares special financial reports.
2. Analyzes and prepares financial documents and specialized cost studies.
3. Completes financial statements, which compare actual and budgeted expenditures and revenues.
4. Prepares long term financing plans and reports to senior management.
5. Works with UT System to obtain approvals for the spending of awarded Plant Fund monies.
6. Coordinates payments to all parties involved with the construction of new buildings and renovations.
7. Examines historical and projected financial data to provide senior management with valuable data upon which to make relevant financial decisions.
8. Assists in the preparation of the annual financial statements to UT System.
9. Prepares the indirect cost proposal through analysis of financial data. This proposal is used to negotiate the institution’s indirect cost rate. Interacts directly with UT System and federal negotiators in Washington, D.C. regarding the indirect cost proposal.
10. Develops computer programs to determine various cost projections and performs statistical analysis of requested data. Statistical analysis includes actual costs of operation, total costs to operate a facility, and total costs versus indirect costs.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) years of related experience in a financial or accounting area.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
