JOB TITLE: Senior Financial Analyst - BI Reporting

ENVIRONMENT: Remote with travel (5% to 10%)

About the Role

Our client is a mid-size (~$200MM) law firm known for its top-tier legal services across various industries. They prioritize a collaborative and inclusive culture that empowers employees to grow professionally and make significant contributions. Due to growth, the firm is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to lead financial reporting and business intelligence initiatives. The ideal candidate will be skilled in data analysis and financial reporting, with strong technical expertise in SQL, DAX, and Power BI.

The role involves transforming financial data into actionable insights, improving reporting processes, conducting profitability analyses, and managing financial systems. It offers exposure to a wide range of services, providing opportunities for cross-practice analysis and strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will contribute to critical financial systems that drive firm performance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and maintain advanced financial reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI, focusing on timekeeper statistics, matter profitability, and practice area performance metrics.
2. Collaborate with the Controller during month-end close processes for 3E Cloud, ensuring data integrity and timely financial reporting.
3. Perform detailed practice area analyses across diverse services, identifying trends and insights.
4. Create clear visual presentations of financial data for stakeholders, including practice leaders and management.
5. Co-administer financial platforms such as 3E Cloud and Data Insights, ensuring quality and managing user access.
6. Develop and optimize SQL queries and DAX expressions for custom reporting needs.
7. Create documentation for reporting procedures to enhance workflow efficiency and consistency.
8. Support upgrades and implementations of financial systems with minimal disruption.
9. Analyze WIP and AR trends across various dimensions, focusing on fee arrangements and practice areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 5+ years of experience in financial analysis and business intelligence, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting.
2. Bachelor’s degree in finance, data analytics, accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
3. Professional certifications in Power BI, SQL, or Data Analysis are preferred.
4. Experience working with diverse practice areas and fee structures (hourly, contingency, fixed, hybrid).
5. Advanced skills in Power BI, including data modeling, dashboards, and DAX.
6. Strong SQL skills for writing and optimizing complex queries.
7. Experience with Elite 3E Cloud and Data Insights platforms is a plus.
