Responsibilities

Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant - International Reporting - will report to the International Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. M.C. Dean has a multi-layered, multi-divisional operational financial reporting structure, as well as approximately 60+ subsidiaries and affiliates, including a growing 20+ international subsidiaries and branches, and 30+ shared service centers, adding complexities to the traditional financial reporting process. This position is responsible for executing the accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance activities for a significant portion of the Company's international operations. This role serves as the primary accountant for assigned international entities, leading month-end close, financial reporting, tax reporting, foreign currency accounting, intercompany transactions, and statutory reporting support. The position partners closely with all aspects of the Company’s accounting and finance functions, as well as other areas of the organization and external accounting firms to ensure accurate and timely reporting while driving continuous process improvements.

This role serves as the primary accountant for assigned international entities, leading month-end close, financial reporting, tax reporting, foreign currency accounting, intercompany transactions, and statutory reporting support.

Financial Reporting & Close
  • Own and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for assigned international entities.
  • Prepare complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and accounting analyses.
  • Review financial results and investigate significant variances, unusual transactions, and accounting issues.
  • Prepare and maintain reporting schedules supporting consolidated financial statements.
  • Ensure accurate accounting treatment in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
  • Coordinate close deliverables and reporting deadlines with international finance teams.
International Reporting & Consolidation
  • Own financial reporting processes for assigned international subsidiaries and branch operations.
  • Prepare and review monthly reporting packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with corporate requirements.
  • Prepare foreign currency translation calculations and consolidation-related entries.
  • Manage intercompany accounting processes, including reconciliations, settlements, and elimination support.
  • Research and resolve international accounting and reporting issues.
  • Coordinate local statutory reporting requirements with external service providers and in-country finance personnel.
  • Support implementation of new accounting standards and reporting requirements impacting international operations.
Compliance & Audit
  • Serve as a primary contact for internal and external audit requests related to international operations.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for audits and regulatory reporting.
  • Execute and monitor internal control activities, including SOX compliance requirements.
  • Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements.
International Tax Support
  • Review and validate VAT/GST returns to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable tax regulations.
  • Reconcile VAT/GST accounts and investigate discrepancies between financial records and tax filings.
  • Prepare, issue, and process intercompany invoices in accordance with transfer pricing policies and intercompany agreements.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and coordinate with cross-functional and international teams to resolve variances.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for VAT/GST filings and intercompany transactions to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate financial data requests supporting U.S. and foreign tax compliance requirements for taxes such as GST, VAT, Income Tax, and other.
  • Prepare and analyze schedules supporting tax provision and tax reporting processes.
  • Partner with Corporate Tax and international finance teams to ensure consistency between statutory and U.S. GAAP reporting.
  • Support transfer pricing and intercompany reporting requirements.
Process Improvement
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, and automation.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline close and reporting processes.
  • Assist in developing standardized procedures across international accounting operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field with 5+ years of accounting experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, or public accounting.
  • Strong experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
  • Ability to independently manage accounting and reporting responsibilities with limited supervision.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Desired Qualities
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • Experience with multinational organizations, foreign subsidiaries, or international business operations.
  • Experience with foreign currency accounting, consolidations, and intercompany accounting.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP financial reporting requirements.
