Optum, based in Eden Prairie, MN, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Corporate Finance team. The role supports enterprise and shared services through planning, forecasting, reporting, and strategic partnership, acting as a key finance partner to functional leaders.

The position is full-time with in-office days per week and occasional overtime. You will influence decisions, drive accountability, and deliver clear financial storytelling to leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in FP&A, accounting, corporate finance, or a related field.
• Experience supporting FP&A processes including forecasting, budgeting, month-end analysis, and financial reporting.
• Solid financial modeling and financial statement analysis skills with experience owning, maintaining, and improving models.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH.
• Ability to work full time with flexibility for standard business hours 8:00am - 5:00pm, and possible overtime.

This role sits within Optum Corporate Finance, supporting enterprise and shared service functions through financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and strategic partnership. The team plays a critical role in driving financial discipline, enabling decision-making, and ensuring alignment with leadership priorities.

The Senior Financial Analyst will serve as a key finance and strategic business partner to functional leadership, providing financial insight, driving accountability to commitments, and supporting team responsible for financial planning, reporting, and analysis. This role requires solid analytical capability, communication skills, and the ability to influence decisions across a broad set of stakeholders.

This position is full time. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be based on schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as a secondary finance business partner to functional leadership, providing actionable insights, influencing decision-making, and driving accountability to financial commitments
• Support financial planning activities, including forecasting, budgeting, month-end close support, and variance analysis for assigned functions
• Assists with analysis of business and financial metrics, including key performance indicators across Optum Corporate shared service organizations
• Analyze financial results, identify key drivers, and clearly articulate performance storylines to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
• Develop and maintain financial reporting to communicate actual results, forecasted performance, and variances to forecast and budget
• Partner with business leaders to identify risks and opportunities and develop strategies to improve cost efficiency and overall financial performance
• Review key analyses, reporting packages, and leadership materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clear financial storytelling
• Support continuous improvement of financial processes, tools, reporting capabilities, and planning routines
• Proactively identify risks and opportunities to inform near-term and long-term decision-making

Required Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience in financial planning & analysis, accounting, corporate finance, OR a related field
• Experience supporting financial planning processes, including forecasting, budgeting, month-end analysis, and financial reporting
• Solid financial modeling and financial statement analysis skills, with experience owning, maintaining, and improving models

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with planning and reporting tools such as Essbase, Oracle Smart View, Oracle EPM, PeopleSoft Financials, Power BI, OR similar platforms
• Experience supporting corporate functions, shared services, OR enterprise-level cost management

Telecommuting Requirements:

• Reside within commutable distance to the office at Eden Prairie-1 Optum Circle.
• Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
• Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
• Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

• Demonstrated analytical capability with solid attention to detail and accountability for accuracy
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial audiences, including presentations to leadership

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $60,200 - $107,400 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
