Local candidates within commutable distance to Birmingham, AL will be considered, with a path to FP&A leadership as the company grows. You will analyze projects, forecast, and support GAAP/SOX reporting across the finance function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
• Several years of accounting, finance, or FP&A experience.
• Strong financial analysis and Excel skills.
• Experience in a project-based environment and GAAP/SOX knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

The finance team has significant visibility within the business, and this person will have the opportunity to work directly with leadership while developing a broad understanding of company operations.

What You'll Do

• Provide financial analysis and support for projects across the organization
• Analyze project performance, profitability, timing and financial variances
• Assist with forecasting, budgeting and ongoing financial planning
• Monitor project estimates, costs and estimates to completion
• Support percentage-of-completion and other project-based financial reporting
• Partner with operational leaders to understand business performance and provide actionable financial insights
• Prepare financial reporting and analysis for leadership
• Identify trends, risks and opportunities within financial results
• Support GAAP and SOX-related reporting and control requirements
• Help improve existing finance processes, reporting and workflows
• Explore opportunities to leverage technology, AI and automation to create greater efficiency within the finance function
• Participate in additional strategic and analytical projects as the company continues to grow

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Several years of progressive accounting, finance or FP&A experience
• Strong financial analysis and Excel skills
• Experience working in a project-based environment or familiarity with concepts such as percentage of completion, estimates to completion, project profitability, project forecasting or timing variances
• Strong understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles
• GAAP and/or SOX experience is a plus
• Experience within a publicly traded company, manufacturing, engineering, construction, industrial services or another project-oriented business is beneficial
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across finance and operations
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines
• Adaptable, proactive and comfortable working within a fast-growing organization
• Interest in process improvement, technology and automation
