Role Summary: The Senior Financial Accountant will partner with the Controller to manage key accounting functions, including cost accounting, payables, receivables, and comprehensive financial reporting. This role is critical to ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze financial reports (e.g., monthly statements, annual audits) for external entities and senior management.
• Monitor budgets, ensuring compliance with authorized expenditures, and project revenue accuracy to identify potential overruns or shortfalls.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of financial reporting, planning, and budgeting systems.
• Maintain current knowledge of governmental accounting principles (e.g., GAAP, FAR, CAS) and industry best practices.
• Manage financial controls for project budgets, expenditure tracking, and adherence to financial targets.
• Collaborate with management to identify, assess, and mitigate project-related financial risks.
• Liaise with executive management and shareholders to gather financial data, perform analysis, and generate accurate reports.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and internal company policies.
• Support external tax accountants in preparing quarterly estimates and annual returns.
• Advise the Controller on financial planning, budget allocation, and risk assessment.
• Serve as the primary financial liaison with DCAA and DCMA; prepare annual provisional indirect rate requests and Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS).
• Manage reporting requirements for the corporate bank and liaise with the corporate insurance broker on non-benefit policies.
• Assist with proposal pricing and protect financial information by maintaining confidentiality.
• Collaborate with the Controller and payroll department on operational continuity and special projects.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting, utilizing accounting applications and fiscal principles.
• Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint is essential.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, data analysis, and problem-solving.
• Excellent verbal, written communication, organizational skills, and high attention to detail.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA or CMA certification.
• Significant experience in government accounting.
