Job summary

The Care Center in Holyoke, MA seeks a Director of Finance and Operations to oversee finances, grants, HR and operations, reporting to the Executive Director as part of a seasoned leadership team. This hands-on role has a strong support structure and requires mission-driven leadership at a sustainable pace.

Responsibilities include budgeting, internal controls, audits, and contract management, with focus on funder reporting and compliance across programs and services.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of progressive nonprofit finance experience, including budgeting and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to manage diverse funding streams (government contracts, foundations, individuals).
• At least 2 years supervisory experience, including finance or operations staff.
• Experience handling finance and HR alongside another operational area, preferably in a small org.
• Experience producing reports for funders and handling contract data (government, grants).

Responsibilities

• Ensure sound fiscal management, internal controls, and compliance across the organization.
• Supervise the Manager of Finance and Operations and oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and purchasing.
• Develop annual operating budgets and monitor revenue and expenses to inform decisions.
• Lead annual audit, Form 990, and related reporting with the external accounting firm.
• Oversee grants and contracts reporting, cost allocation, and funder compliance.
