Job Description Summary

This role is for a specialist in technical, statutory insurance accounting at ERAC, Employers Reassurance Corporation, a corporate holding of GE Aerospace. We are a reinsurance company supporting long-term care insurance, structured settlements, life insurance, and other insurance products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring technical accounting compliance, managing financial and operational internal controls, simplifying processes, and achieving operational excellence to deliver accurate financial reporting and analysis. The role involves interpreting internal and external business challenges and recommending best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Staying informed of industry trends influencing the work is also essential. This position is available remotely anywhere in the US or at our Overland Park, KS location.

Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Guidance and Compliance: Provide guidance to finance teams and the organization on statutory accounting, filings, and regulatory requirements. Assist with timely and compliant statutory filings.
  2. Expertise Development: Grow expertise within the function, influence policy, and provide thought leadership, linking with other organizational functions.
  3. Leadership in Projects: Lead or support projects with moderate complexity, such as NAIC’s Principles-Based Bond Definition and Group Capital Calculation, presenting solutions to leaders.
  4. Communication and Negotiation: Communicate complex messages internally, influence peers, and negotiate with external partners or vendors.
  5. Problem Solving: Lead creative solutions for complex problems, evaluate information quality, and utilize internal and external resources for decision-making.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Strong knowledge of statutory and insurance regulatory requirements
  • Experience in technical controllership and the insurance industry, especially with Life & Health products
  • Experience in preparing statutory financial statements and working with auditors

  • Ability to analyze facts and formulate technical accounting positions considering relevant guidance and practices
  • Excellent communication skills and effective collaboration
  • Quick learner with adaptability to company-specific processes

The salary range for this position is $124,500 to $180,000 annually, influenced by experience, education, and skills. The role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus or commissions.
