Job description

Overview

Tillamook Family Counseling Center (TFCC) is seeking a hands‑on Senior Finance Manager to lead the day‑to‑day accounting operations of a mission‑driven nonprofit organization serving the Tillamook community.

This role is best suited for an experienced nonprofit accounting leader who enjoys being closely involved in the work, supporting a small finance team, and serving as the organization’s primary financial representative to leadership, the Board of Directors, and external funding partners.

About the Role

This position functions as a working finance leader—similar in scope to a Controller or Accounting Manager—rather than a purely strategic finance role. The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing grant and fund accounting, ensuring audit and regulatory compliance, and providing guidance and review to the finance team.

In addition, this role serves as the face of the finance department, representing TFCC in discussions with the Board, state agencies, and funding and insurance partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger accuracy, reconciliations, and month‑end close
  • Manage restricted and unrestricted funds across multiple grants and funding sources
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, regulatory standards, and audit expectations
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and external entities
  • Serve as TFCC’s primary financial representative in meetings with funders, state agencies, and insurance partners
  • Lead annual budget preparation and monitor monthly variances
  • Supervise, mentor, and support a small finance team, providing guidance and review of their work
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Coordinate and support annual audits
  • Track agency investments, assets, and equipment inventories
  • Provide financial data and analysis to support grant proposals and management decision‑making
  • Adapt financial processes as funding sources change and new grants are introduced
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Significant hands‑on accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or grant‑funded environment
  • Proven experience with grant and fund accounting, including managing restricted and unrestricted funds
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and audit processes
  • Experience supervising or reviewing the work of accounting staff
  • Ability to clearly explain financial information and confidently present to leadership and governing bodies
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or equivalent advanced accounting experience highly preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or publicly funded organizations
  • Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement models
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting systems (e.g., MIP or similar)
Work Schedule & Location
  • Full‑time position based in Tillamook, OR
  • Primarily onsite, with occasional flexibility for remote work as needed
Why Join Tillamook Family Counseling Center?

TFCC offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • HSA or FSA options
  • Generous paid time off and 11 paid holidays
  • Corporate membership to local YMCA at reduced rate
