Job summary

Buckingham Search is partnering with a large North American construction materials group to recruit a Senior Manager for Project & Asset Accounting / Finance Analytics in Chicago, IL. You will lead capital project, fixed asset, and lease accounting, and drive analytics and automation with senior finance leadership.

Ideal candidate brings CPA, 7+ years in project/fixed asset accounting, and 3+ years of people management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA certification required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in areas such as project accounting, fixed assets, leases, or corporate reporting.
• 3+ years of leadership/people management experience.
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge including ASC 842.
• Experience with capital project accounting and fixed asset accounting.
• SOX/internal controls knowledge.
• Advanced Excel and financial data reporting skills.
• Experience with Power BI, Alteryx, Power Query, Python, or similar analytics/automation tech.
• Familiarity with SAP or Oracle ERP systems.
• Strong analytical ability and communication with senior leadership.
• Public-company experience or IPO readiness is highly valued.
• CMA or CFA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting for capital projects and expenditures under U.S. GAAP.
• Oversee fixed asset and intangible asset accounting incl. depreciation and disposals.
• Manage lease accounting activities under ASC 842.
• Partner with Finance, Operations, IT, and project teams to improve tracking and controls.
• Develop financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools for leadership.
• Lead and develop accounting professionals and drive process automation.
• Coordinate with auditors and provide documentation for audits.
• Improve data quality, governance, and integration across finance systems.
• Drive finance transformation initiatives with senior leadership.
