Responsibilities

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.

Job description

The Senior Finance Administrative Officer provides senior-level financial administration, planning, systems, and analytical support for the health system. The position is responsible for leading and overseeing key financial processes that support enterprise financial management, including financial system implementation and optimization, capital and operating budgeting, long-range financial planning, cost accounting, consolidated financial reporting, and executive and Board financial reporting.

The position serves as a senior Finance subject matter expert and business partner for the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of enterprise financial systems, including ERP and back-office applications and budget planning and forecasting tools. The Senior Finance Administrative Officer works closely with Finance, Information Technology, operational leadership, and other stakeholders to ensure financial systems and processes are integrated, accurate, efficient, and aligned with the health system's strategic and financial objectives.

The position facilitates the development and administration of capital and operating budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans; develops and maintains related financial planning and reporting systems; and supports cost accounting and financial analysis through the effective use of system-based tools. The Senior Finance Administrative Officer also coordinates consolidated health system financial reporting and prepares complex financial analyses, presentations, and supporting materials for executive management and the Board of Directors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Facilitate the health system's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.

  • Coordinate the development of annual operating and capital budgets, including planning assumptions, methodologies, calendars, system workflows, reporting, and management review processes.

  • Develop and maintain long-range financial plans and financial models incorporating operating performance, capital requirements, strategic initiatives, financing considerations, and other significant financial drivers.

  • Serve as a senior Finance business lead for the implementation, optimization, and ongoing administration of ERP and other enterprise financial and back-office systems.

  • Lead or coordinate Finance requirements for financial system implementations and enhancements, including requirements definition, business process design, configuration, testing, data validation, implementation readiness, and post-implementation optimization.

  • Partner with Information Technology, Finance, Accounting, operational leaders, and external implementation partners to ensure financial systems effectively support enterprise business processes.

  • Oversee the administration, maintenance, and development of budget planning, forecasting, and financial reporting systems, including organizational structures, planning models, reporting hierarchies, workflows, interfaces, security, and system enhancements.

  • Establish and maintain processes and controls that promote the accuracy, integrity, consistency, and transparency of financial planning and reporting information.

  • Oversee cost accounting processes and the use of cost accounting, decision-support, and related system tools to analyze costs, margins, resource utilization, and financial performance across the health system.

  • Develop and maintain cost structures, allocation methodologies, reporting models, and analytical tools that support operational and strategic decision-making.

  • Coordinate the preparation of consolidated health system financial reports, forecasts, budget-to-actual analyses, management reports, and other financial information for executive leadership.

  • Develop standardized financial reporting and analytical tools that consolidate information across entities, departments, service lines, and other organizational dimensions.

  • Translate complex financial and operational information into clear, concise analyses, recommendations, and presentations for executive management.

  • Prepare financial schedules, presentations, dashboards, briefing materials, and other supporting materials for executive leadership, Board committees, and the Board of Directors.

  • Support recurring executive and Board reporting related to financial performance, operating and capital budgets, forecasts, long-range financial plans, capital investment, and financial outlook.

  • Partner with Accounting, Treasury, Revenue Cycle, Decision Support, Operations, Information Technology, and other Finance functions to reconcile, validate, and interpret financial information.

  • Lead or support cross-functional financial process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, standardization, automation, and quality of financial information.

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, standards, and controls governing financial planning systems, budgeting, cost accounting, reporting, and related financial processes.

  • Provide subject-matter expertise, training, and guidance to Finance and operational users regarding financial planning systems, budgeting tools, reporting applications, and related processes.

  • Identify opportunities to improve integration among financial applications and enhance the availability, usability, and timeliness of financial information.

  • Lead complex financial projects and initiatives involving systems, planning processes, reporting requirements, organizational changes, and strategic financial priorities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree required in accounting, finance, or related field.

Experience: 10+ years of relevant professional experience in an academic medical center or integrated healthcare system to include 5+ years of formal managerial experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in a related field

  • Licensure: CPA

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

The pay range for this role is $100,835.00 - $190,038.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
