Job summary

Kleinfelder, a Forbes' Top Employer for Engineers, invites a Full Time Surveyor to join our West Des Moines, IA office. We serve municipal and utility sectors across Iowa and offer growth opportunities within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Key duties include in-field surveys for topography, boundary, control, staking and as-builts; data verification; CAD drafting; and collaboration with engineers to support design and construction.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of field surveying experience in topography, control and construction staking.
• Technical degree in surveying and/or CAD preferred.
• Proficient in Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads Designer.
• Ability to read blueprints and construction plans.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-the-field surveys for topography, boundary, control, staking and as-builts.
• Review survey data for accuracy, completeness and standards.
• Compute and adjust data for project control networks.
• Operate Trimble equipment, GNSS base/rover, and robotic total stations.
• May operate bathymetric echosounder or UAS with required certs.
• Support engineers and managers with survey data for design and construction.
• Maintain detailed field notes, sketches, and digital files.
• Conduct office CAD drafting and data processing.
• Participate in field reconnaissance, stakeout, and monumentation.
• Ensure safety protocols during fieldwork.
