Job summary

Key Interiors Design LLC in the Chicago area is seeking a Senior Field Superintendent to own the day-to-day field operations for high-quality commercial interiors projects. You will lead on-site activities, manage subcontractors, and drive schedules from mobilization through closeout, all while upholding safety and quality standards and collaborating with PMs, design teams and leadership.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of commercial construction field experience.
• Proven success independently leading commercial construction projects as a Superintendent.
• Experience taking a project from mobilization through completion and closeout.
• Strong understanding of commercial interiors, construction sequencing and trade coordination.
• Ability to coordinate and lead multiple subcontractors and trades.
• Strong scheduling and look-ahead planning skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and details.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working with Project Managers, clients, architects and engineers.
• This is a hands-on, full-time field leadership position with active site presence.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day on-site construction activities and subcontractors.
• Own jobsite progress from mobilization through punch list and closeout.
• Develop and maintain 3 week ahead schedules and master plan milestones.
• Keep subcontractors coordinated, productive and accountable.
• Identify problems before they impact schedule, quality or client.
• Coordinate with Project Manager while independently leading field operations.
• Review drawings, specs and details to ensure correct build.
• Lead site meetings and communicate progress, upcoming activities and concerns.
• Maintain an organized, safe and professional jobsite.
• Uphold safety standards and OSHA compliance.
• Push projects through the final 10% and deliver organized closeout.

This is a senior field leadership position for an experienced, self-motivated construction professional who takes pride in fully owning the day-to-day field operation of their projects.

Our Senior Field Superintendents are the leaders of their jobsites. You'll be trusted to plan ahead, lead subcontractors, drive the schedule, solve problems before they become problems, uphold our quality and safety standards, and keep the project moving from mobilization through final completion.

What You'll Own

As a Senior Field Superintendent, you are the leader of your specific project and you will take ownership of the daily field operation, including:

• Lead all day-to-day on-site construction activities and subcontractors.
• Take ownership of jobsite progress from mobilization through punch list and closeout.
• Develop and maintain 3 week ahead schedules and detailed master plan dates and milestones.
• Keep subcontractors coordinated, productive and accountable.
• Identify potential problems before they impact the schedule, quality or client.
• Coordinate closely with the Project Manager while independently leading field operations.
• Review drawings, specifications and details and ensure the work is built correctly.
• Lead site meetings and clearly communicate progress, upcoming activities, responsibilities and concerns.
• Maintain an organized, clean, safe and professional jobsite.
• Maintain Key Interiors' safety standards and OSHA compliance.
• Drive quality throughout construction—not just during the punch list.
• Hold subcontractors accountable to Key Interiors' expectations for schedule, workmanship, safety and professionalism.
• Push projects through the critical final 10% and deliver a strong, organized closeout.

The Person We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who owns the project rather than waiting to be told what needs to happen next.

A Key Interiors Senior Field Superintendent should be thinking about today, tomorrow, next week and three weeks from now.

This position is for an experienced construction professional who has already demonstrated the ability to independently lead commercial construction projects in the field.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of commercial construction field experience.
• Proven success independently leading commercial construction projects as a Superintendent.
• Demonstrated ability to take a commercial project from mobilization through completion and closeout.
• Strong understanding of commercial interiors, construction sequencing and trade coordination.
• Ability to independently coordinate and lead multiple subcontractors and trades.
• Strong scheduling and look-ahead planning skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and details.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working directly with Project Managers, clients, architects, engineers and subcontractors.
• Comfortable using construction technology and project management software.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Ability to travel to project locations throughout Illinois based on project location.
• This is a hands-on, full-time field leadership position. Our Senior Field Superintendents are expected to be physically present and actively leading their project site throughout the workday.
