Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Structures Engineer to provide technical ownership of V-BAT airframe, structural, mechanical, and repair sustainment across the fielded fleet. The role requires evaluating damage, wear, and fatigue to determine repairs, disposition, or escalation while ensuring documentation and configuration control are sound.

You will partner with Fleet Support, Sustainment Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, MRB, Configuration Management, and Operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in aerospace structures, airframe sustainment, or related fields.
• Experience evaluating structural damage, repair options, and fleet-impacting issues.
• Strong understanding of metallic/composite structures, bonded assemblies, and damage tolerance.
• Experience developing repair instructions, inspection criteria, or maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities

• Own evaluation of V-BAT airframe and sustainment issues across the fleet.
• Assess damage, wear, cracking, deformation, corrosion, and fatigue to determine repairs or escalations.
• Provide engineering input for repairs, inspections, or service guidance.
• Develop or approve repair instructions, inspection criteria, and field procedures.
• Coordinate with multiple teams to resolve structural issues affecting readiness.
