Job summary

AVI-SPL is seeking a Senior Field Service Technician in Manchester, CT to partner with the Global Helpdesk and restore functionality at customer sites while delivering world-class customer service.

You will read schematics, perform preventive maintenance, install and troubleshoot AV equipment, document work, and travel to various job sites as needed. OSHA safety practices are required and training opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • Must communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Experience handling hand and power tools safely.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills and software familiarity.
  • Knowledge of signal flow for audio/video/control systems.
  • Experience managing small to medium projects.
  • Soldering and crimping connectors capability.
  • Some programming ability for AMX/Crestron systems.
  • Valid driver's license and suitable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret schematics and architectural drawings.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and site visits.
  • Clean AV equipment including cameras, monitors, and fans.
  • Document tasks accurately and manage delivery responsibilities.
  • Install and troubleshoot control programs (AMX/Crestron).
  • Provide field service for networked devices and basic Edits.

The AVI-SPL Senior Service Technician will work in partnership with the Global Helpdesk to provide Service support for customers at customer sites with the end goals of restoring functionality to our customers’ assets while delivering a world-class Customer Service experience.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The AVI-SPL Senior Field Service Technician will work in partnership with the Global Helpdesk to provide Service support for customers at customer sites with the end goals of restoring functionality to our customers’ assets while delivering a world-class Customer Service experience.

Day-To-Day Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints
  • Perform preventative maintenance visits to help maintain a stable client base
  • Clean various AV equipment including but not limited to: camera lenses, monitors and equipment fans, as a part of Preventative Maintenance
  • Take Responsibly for completing accurate job documentation as needed
  • Ensure equipment delivery and associated responsibilities for assigned assignments
  • Field installation of control programs (AMX / Crestron/Firmware) – upload and download capability
  • Field service support of control programs (AMX / Crestron/etc.) – minor edits (could be with the aid of a programmer), compile, upload and download capability
  • Intermediate Field service support of networked devices (Routers, IP Protocols, etc.)
  • Perform service tasks in a timely and quality conscious manner including but not limited to:

pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projects and hanging ceiling mounts

  • Assist next level service technicians as needed
  • Provide client training as needed
  • Adhere to and understand OSHA standards for all phases of the job
  • Setup and troubleshoot various video codecs and UCC devices
  • Travel to various job sites required
  • Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organization, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives

  • This position will generally work on customer sites and may deal with a construction site type of work environment.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Must-Haves:

  • Minor programming capability (AMX/Creston) – changes and troubleshooting
  • Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of audiovisual integration experience preferred
  • Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with:
    • AMX Networking and Programming Essentials
    • Crestron Professional installation, programming and configuration
    • Exton Intermediate Knowledge
    • AVIXA CTS General Certification
    • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course
    • CT C6 Limited Electrical Journeyperson
