Job summary

Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. seeks a Level 5 Switchgear Field Engineer to lead complex field service activities for medium- and high-voltage switchgear systems. You will install, commission, troubleshoot, and modernize equipment while mentoring junior staff and ensuring safe work practices on-site.

You will interface with customers and project teams, drive quality and schedule adherence, and contribute to continuous improvement across outages, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electromechanical Technology, or equivalent.
• Typically 8+ years of field experience with MV/HV switchgear, breakers, and protection & control systems.
• Proven ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning/service events.
• Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70E/OSHA or local safety standards, including LOTO and arc-flash controls.
• Proven ability to read and troubleshoot schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-lines.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead field execution for switchgear installation, commissioning, and service.
• Plan and perform advanced diagnostics for equipment and protection/control issues.
• Execute acceptance, maintenance, and condition-based testing.
• Perform protection relay commissioning and end-to-end verification.
• Interpret drawings and verify as-built conditions.
• Ensure on-site safety and lead safety briefings.
• Troubleshoot and resolve control wiring, interlocks, and communication issues.
• Provide technical leadership during outages and critical recovery events.
• Produce field service reports and closing documentation.
• Coordinate with PMs, engineering, factory on parts and root cause analysis.
