Joby Aviation is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer to provide advanced technical support for J208 aircraft and Ground Control Stations in field environments. You will serve as the on-site SME, diagnosing complex issues and communicating results to stakeholders while coordinating with development teams to feed lessons learned back into products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant engineering experience (or Master’s with 6+ years) or equivalent
• Extensive field service engineering or flight test support in deployed environments
• Proven capability troubleshooting hardware-to-software interactions, data buses, avionics systems
• Active US Security Clearance or ability to obtain one post-hire
• Willingness to travel ~50% domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

• Own and manage engineering support workstreams for deployed J208 aircraft and Ground Control Stations, on-site primary SME
• Diagnose and resolve multidisciplinary issues involving mechanical, electrical, avionics, and flight software interactions
• Brief internal and external stakeholders on complex systems and health/readiness assessments
• Represent the J208 product and flight evaluation program to customers during field operations
• Capture field anomalies and feedback into product updates and routines
• Develop procedures, workarounds, and guidelines for flight test and maintenance
• Advise cross-functional teams on field maintenance impacts on safety and timelines
• Travel 50% CONUS/OCONUS for deployments
