Job summary

The Field Engineer at Kinsley Group leads installation, commissioning, and testing of industrial standby and prime power generation systems across the Northeast region. You will work with project teams, technicians, electrical contractors, and customers to ensure safe, reliable startup and turnover documentation.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in generator systems, strong troubleshooting skills, NEC/NFPA knowledge, and the ability to mentor technicians on site.

Qualifications

• Seven years or more in industrial generator service, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair or overhaul.
• Experience with diesel and natural gas generator systems and paralleling switchgear.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 110 and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical diagrams, schematics, and submittals to ensure proper field execution.
• Support installation teams to identify scope gaps and technical discrepancies.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and document deficiencies.
• Develop and execute startup checklists; lead commissioning of generators and ATS.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and control issues during startup.
• Configure and test generator controllers, synchronization, and remote monitoring.
• Provide customer training on operation, procedures, and maintenance; deliver turnover packages.
• Travel within Kinsley's service territory; work in hospitals, data centers, and industrial facilities.
