Job summary

Lumbra seeks a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer to manage a 3–5 person team embedded at a customer site, owning technical outcomes and serving as the senior technical counterpart to the government client.

This role is on client site 80–100% of the time, with no remote or hybrid options. You will drive engagement delivery, translation of mission requirements into Nebula configurations, and ongoing collaboration with government stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience including customer-facing roles.
• End-to-end ownership of a customer engagement from discovery to adoption.
• Strong Python; working fluency in Kubernetes; understanding deployment and data flow.

Responsibilities

• Technical delivery for one engagement from kickoff to handoff.
• Define integration approach; translate mission requirements into Nebula config.
• Lead a team of 3–5 Forward Deployed Engineers and Deployment Strategists.
• Cover FDE systems and DS workflows as needed and be the top Nebula operator.
• Manage customer relationship on technical matters with senior government leadership.
• Identify analyst workflows and implement them in Nebula; feedback to core engineering.
• Interview and hire engineers/strategists for the team; travel across time zones.
