Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Senior Field Engineer for the Data Center Design and Engineering team to act as the technical authority on active project sites. You will inspect installations, resolve issues, and drive root-cause investigations with a focus on safety and quality.

>50% overnight travel is required, with remaining time spent remotely or from a home office base. Responsibilities include on-site verification against designs, issue prioritization, and design feedback to improve future builds.

Qualifications

• Proven background on active industrial project sites in energy, power, data centers, or heavy industrial facilities.
• Experience reading and interpreting single-line diagrams (SLDs), P&IDs, and electrical/mechanical specs.
• Strong ability to drive structured root-cause analyses and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• On-Site Engineering Presence: verify installed work against drawings and specs; exercise design acceptance authority.
• Issue Resolution & Prioritization: manage open field issues with owners and dates; escalate blockers with recommendations.
• Root-Cause Failure Investigations: lead 5 Whys/8D analyses and validate corrective actions.
• Commissioning & Handover Clearance: inspect interfaces before tests; expedite RFIs and field changes.
• Design Feedback Loop: translate site issues into design updates and new audits.
