Job summary

WithersRavenel seeks a Construction Observer III to provide advanced field observation, technical support, and oversight of horizontal construction activities. You will liaise with clients, contractors, project managers, and engineers to document progress and ensure quality and compliance.

This mid-to-senior role requires independent work, strong planning, and the ability to mentor junior staff while supporting project certification and closeout activities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of construction experience or related field experience.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with field measurements and basic surveying.
• Willingness to lead, mentor, and support team members.

Responsibilities

• Observe and document construction activities to verify conformance with plans and requirements.
• Support project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout construction.
• Read and interpret plans, shop drawings, and schedules.
• Perform field measurements and basic surveying for elevations.
• Document site conditions, progress, and changes; communicate issues promptly.
• Assist with RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
• Coordinate geotechnical testing, inspections, and project closeout activities.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced staff and improve processes.
