Job summary

Willoughby Group, in partnership with our client, seeks a Senior Field Construction Manager with a strong MEP background to lead on-site owner’s representative activities for a multi-year portfolio of manufacturing, R&D, and critical facility projects in Columbus, OH.

You will drive schedule, quality, safety, and execution from the owner's perspective, coordinating with senior leadership, contractors, and consultants to minimize disruption and ensure successful turnover and occupancy readiness.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in construction management or related leadership roles.
• Strong MEP systems expertise (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls).
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, mission-critical, technology, data center, or complex commercial projects.
• Ability to manage contractors and influence stakeholders; proactively identify and solve field challenges.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Project, and Procore or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily field oversight on multiple concurrent commercial and industrial construction projects.
• Coordinate MEP shutdowns, utility tie-ins, temporary power and conditions, minimizing disruption to operations.
• Serve as the key liaison between ownership, project teams, contractors, consultants, landlords, and vendors.
• Lead field coordination and oversight of MEP, fire protection, controls, and low-voltage systems.
• Monitor construction progress, schedule performance, quality, safety, and commissioning activities.
• Review RFIs, change orders, and field issues from the owner's perspective.
• Support project turnover, startup, occupancy readiness, and closeout.

Senior Field Construction Manager (Owner’s Representative | MEP Focus)

Columbus, OH | $150K-$190K Base + Bonus

Our client, a rapidly growing real estate company, has partnered with Willoughby Group to identify a Senior Field Construction Manager with a strong MEP background to support a multi-year portfolio of advanced manufacturing, R&D, mission-critical, and corporate facility projects in the Columbus market.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a highly visible owner-side role, serving as the client's trusted representative in the field on complex, fast-moving projects that directly support critical national defense initiatives. You will work closely with senior leadership, project teams, contractors, and consultants, helping drive schedule, quality, safety, and project execution from the owner's perspective.

The Opportunity

As the client's on-site representative, you will:

• Provide daily field oversight on multiple concurrent commercial and industrial construction projects.
• Coordination of MEP shutdowns, utility tie-ins, temporary power and conditions, and work within existing or occupied facilities to minimize disruption to operations
• Primary conduit between the GC’s site activities and the Landlord/developer — covering work within the Client’s site and assessing how other work on the campus could impact our projects
• Serve as the key liaison between ownership, project management teams, contractors, consultants, landlords, and vendors.
• Lead field coordination and oversight of MEP, fire protection, controls, and low-voltage systems.
• Monitor construction progress, schedule performance, quality, safety, and commissioning activities.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of construction management, superintendent, owner's rep, or related field leadership experience.
• Strong MEP systems expertise, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and critical infrastructure.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, mission-critical, technology, data center, or complex commercial projects.
• Ability to manage contractors, influence stakeholders, and proactively identify and solve field challenges.
