Job summary

AECOM in Honolulu, HI, is seeking a Senior Field Biologist for immediate, part-time, on-call work supporting natural resource projects across Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. You will lead biological surveys, vegetation mapping, wildlife assessments, monitoring, and habitat restoration, primarily in field settings.

This remote and field-based role requires the ability to manage field teams, collect data with GPS, document findings for analyses, and work with clients and staff on complex projects,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related field.
• 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education as a task lead or Project Manager on projects in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands involving habitat assessments, wildlife and botanical surveys, environmental permitting, and/or construction monitoring.
• A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
• Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead field survey teams to identify and monitor rare, threatened and endangered species in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.
• Conduct field surveys and monitoring in diverse habitats.
• Collect and document scientific data for statistical analysis, population surveys and regulatory compliance.
• Utilize electronic data collection methods (GPS) and prepare field reports.
• Work with clients and staff on complex projects involving biological resource protection, permitting, mitigation, and/or restoration.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
• Ensure tasks stay on schedule and budget.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
