JSI invites you to join our team as a Network Engineer III on the Broadband IP team in Huntsville, AL, where you'll apply fiber access expertise to build scalable, multi-vendor networks and expand broadband connectivity.

This senior role focuses on GPON/XGS-PON, OLT/ONT evaluations, and delivering high-level designs (HLD/LLD) for client projects, while mentoring Level I/II engineers and collaborating with vendor teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Engineering/CS/IT.
• Professional-level vendor certifications (e.g., Calix Certified Expert, CCNP, JNCIP) required.
• 5–8 years of experience in network engineering with fiber access architecture focus.
• Extensive experience with high-capacity PON platforms and core edge integration.
• Ability to translate complex architectures into actionable client recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a solid generalist networking foundation while serving as a primary expert in fiber access architectures (GPON, XGS-PON, 25G/50G PON).
• Architect large-scale, multi-vendor PON access networks and ensure integration with IP/MPLS backbones.
• Lead evaluations and vendor platform selections for OLT/ONT in client RFPs.
• Review and approve High-Level Design documents and migration strategies.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide advisory support across client environments.
