R Street Institute in Washington, DC is seeking a collaborative Senior Fellow for its Energy and Environment program. You will report to the Energy and Environment Program Director and work on market-driven environmental policy research and outreach.

The role involves coordinating policy projects, engaging with state and federal policymakers, presenting at events, and contributing to pragmatic solutions that emphasize limited government and resilience to natural disasters.

Qualifications

• Deep environmental policy expertise including resilience and adaptation to disasters
• Top-notch writing and editing for policymakers and public
• Excellent communication with legislators and regulators
• Ability to work with diverse groups of policymakers
• Willingness to public speaking and media appearances
• Strategic, research-backed policy insights
• Knowledge of energy/environment permitting and siting policies (preferred)
• Knowledge of carbon accounting policies (preferred)
• Knowledge of insurance markets and climate risk (preferred)
• No strict degree requirement; results matter more

Responsibilities

• Develop and advance market-driven environmental policy solutions.
• Manage and coordinate environmental policy projects with internal experts.
• Monitor policy developments and adapt engagement strategies.
• Engage target audiences including policymakers and stakeholders; present at events.
• Provide regulatory and legislative testimony and brief policymakers.
• Support program strategy and donor engagement.
• Stay vigilant and adaptive in a dynamic regulatory landscape.
