Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Federal Project Manager in Arlington, VA to lead multidisciplinary design projects for US government clients including DoD agencies. You will direct scope, schedules, milestones, budgets, and document progress for complex federal projects.

This on-site role requires PE or PMP, US citizenship, and 12+ years in project management support within architecture, engineering, or construction.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of post‑education experience in a project management support role within the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience managing Federal design projects for clients including MDA, USACE, NAVFAC.
• US citizenship is required.
• PE or PMP certification required.
• Ability to work in person in one of WSP’s offices; on-site work is required.

• Coordinates daily project activities with internal teams, clients, vendors, and contractors to meet objectives.
• Monitors progress with KPIs, identifies risks or delays, and reports to senior team members.
• Supports project budgets by tracking expenses and ensuring alignment with approved budgets.
• Prepares and maintains project documentation including progress reports, risk assessments, change orders, and closeout reports.
• Uphold integrity and ethics in handling company funds and resources per policy.

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an experienced Senior Federal Project Manager for our Arlington, VA office with demonstrated experience in engineering and design project leadership and project execution for the US government/military sector. The successful candidate will lead design projects on behalf of Federal clients - both large project and mid‑sized, multidiscipline engineering projects concurrently where a branch of the Department of Defense is the client, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Navy Facilities Command (NAVFAC) in particular.

Your Impact

• Leads teams in the development of project design packages, including defining scope, establishing schedules, setting milestones, and identifying resource requirements under the guidance of senior project managers. Strong discipline‑specific knowledge of power sector and electrical design projects is required.
• Coordinates daily project activities by working closely with internal teams, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and align with project objectives.
• Monitors project progress by tracking key performance indicators, identifying potential risks or delays, and reporting findings to senior team members.
• Supports the management of project budgets by assisting in tracking expenses, reviewing cost estimates, and ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets.
• Prepares and maintains project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, risk assessments, change orders, and project closeout reports.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

• 12+ years of relevant post‑education experience in a project management support role within the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience managing Federal design projects for clients to include MDA, USACE, NAVFAC.
• Due to client requirements, US citizenship is required.
• PE or PMP required.
• Ability to work in person (not remotely) in one of WSP’s offices. Work from home is discouraged and subject to WSP policies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and demonstrated experience with typical design/engineering software packages related to drafting, modeling, analysis, design, markup, or cost engineering strongly desirable.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $174,400 - $215,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
