Job summary

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with congressional offices, political campaigns, or federal/state agencies relating to the role
• Bachelor's Degree in Government, Communications, or related field
• Experience on Capitol Hill or at a trade association and advocating on issues within the assigned area

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains relationships with Members of Congress and staff to inform and persuade stakeholders
• Develops subject matter expertise and advances legislative priorities benefiting NRECA members
• Reviews, analyzes and summarizes pending legislation impacting electric cooperatives
• Drafts legislation in collaboration with Directors and supports policy resolutions
• Prepares messages to explain policy priorities to lawmakers and staff
• Grows relationships with member cooperatives and coordinates their participation in advocacy efforts
• Occasional in-office reporting as required
