Job summary

Race Rock Group is seeking a Senior Finite Element Analysis Engineer to lead the FEA function on the Engineered Structures team in our Fort Worth facility. You will own the FEA process from initial model to final stress report, setting methods and standards for an in-house team.

You will guide the analysis of pole and overhead structures, gusset plate connections, and welded joints, while mentoring engineers and collaborating with design and manufacturing. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Mechanical, Civil/Structural, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 10+ years of structural FEA and stress-analysis experience on steel structures.
• Expertise in gusset plates and welded connections.
• Proficient with ANSYS, Abaqus, FEMAP/NX Nastran or equivalent.
• Knowledge of AISC, AWS D1.1, and ASME codes.
• Ability to validate results with hand calculations.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform linear and nonlinear static analyses of utility steel poles, arms, base plates, and connections.
• Develop detailed FEA models of gusset plate connections.
• Evaluate welded connections and perform weld stress and fatigue assessments.
• Build and validate models using ANSYS, Abaqus, FEMAP/NX Nastran.
• Prepare stress reports and calculation packages for review.
• Mentor junior engineers and perform peer reviews.
• Develop FEA modeling guidelines and best practices.
