Job summary

American Modern Insurance Group, Inc., a Munich Re company, seeks a Principal Data Scientist to lead personal lines pricing model strategy and predictive analytics initiatives. The role requires strong modeling expertise, regulatory filings ownership, and mentorship of junior staff in a high-visibility setting.

You will develop and monitor pricing models, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive data-driven decisions that improve profitability and customer outcomes in a hybrid work

Qualifications

• FCAS is required.
• Experience with R and Python.
• Deep understanding of GLMs and GBMs.
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts (supervised/unsupervised, DL, NLP).
• Experience with Databricks or similar big data platforms is desirable.
• Strong understanding of data structures and software design patterns.
• Experience in an agile team environment (Scrum/Kanban).
• Strong focus on testing, validation, and continuous improvement of models.

Responsibilities

• Lead pricing model strategy for a subset of products and develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain predictive models.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and manage filing schedules for aligned products.
• Prepare predictive analytics analyses and model presentations for internal/external customers.
• Mentor junior data scientists and drive end-to-end data science initiatives.
• Document assumptions, results, and alternatives; communicate with regulators when needed.
• Contribute to best practices and new techniques in coordination with partners.
• Schedule and prioritize workload; maintain organization and perform peer reviews.
