Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a Failure Analysis Technician to support optical imaging, SEM, AFM, EDS, FIB, and STEM techniques. You will prepare samples, perform VMI checks, and run electrical tests on semiconductor devices while analyzing data to identify failure modes.

The role requires 2+ years in FA, familiarity with wafer fabrication, and experience in clean room/ESD areas. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor/Master’s preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a failure analysis role in semiconductor environments.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing techniques and wafer fabrication concepts.
  • Experience in clean room and ESD-protected areas.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced lab setting.

Responsibilities

  • Implement surface characterization techniques including Optical imaging, SEM, AFM, EDS, FIB, STEM.
  • Prepare samples for cross-sectioning and BEL testing.
  • Perform Visual Mechanical Inspection (VMI) of semiconductors.
  • Conduct electrical testing of semiconductor devices (LIV, Responsivity, C–V).
  • Analyze data for failure analysis using data capture tools and statistical methods (Excel, JMP).
  • Propose Failure Analysis techniques to identify failure modes.
  • Track and document FA requests, results and conclusions.
  • Plot diagrams, generate charts, prepare reports, and present to teams and customers.
  • Write procedures on FA processes and train others.

Education & Experience

Working Conditions
  • The job may require longer hours outside regular working hours to finish urgent request.
  • The job may require visiting suppliers
Physical Requirements
  • The job requires to work in a lab with different equipment that require stand‑up posture
