Job summary

Apperture Solutions seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to join our Facility Automation Services Team. You will lead design, configuration, and commissioning of facility automation systems, including access control, video surveillance, and SCADA interfaces, ensuring optimal performance.

You will guide customers on technology choices, manage budgets and timelines, and supervise a team of automation engineers as the client’s primary contact.

Qualifications

  • Requires Associates Degree or B.S. in engineering or related disciplines.
  • 8–15 years of relevant experience in facilities automation or BMS environments.
  • Experience with building access control systems, video surveillance, energy management, and lighting control.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain building management and facility automation systems.
  • Plan interfaces between BMS platforms and SCADA, historians, and third-party systems.
  • Lead an automation commissioning team and develop test strategies for FATs/SATs.
  • Advise customers on technology selection and project execution strategies.
  • Develop project budgets and schedules, coordinating with partners and clients.
  • Provide guidance to team members and clients as needed.
  • Lead a team of engineers and serve as the client’s primary contact for projects.
  • Prepare system documentation including requirements and detailed design specs.
  • Support FATs and SATs and assist with start-up activities.

General Description

We are looking for a talented and dedicated Senior Automation Engineer to join our Facility Automation Services Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building management systems and other facility automation systems (including access control systems, video surveillance systems, and other complimentary solutions), excellent problem-solving skills, project management experience, and the ability to work effectively as a lead in a team environment.

This role involves planning and overseeing the design, configuration, and commissioning of facility automation systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

The role also provides site engineering support to customers. Typically, this includes maintaining and updating existing configuration, implementing small scale expansion projects and assisting with process optimization projects.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain various building management and facility automation systems.
  • Plan architectures for interfaces between various building management systems and with other systems, including SCADA solutions, local Historians and 3 rd party systems.
  • Develop test plans and strategies for commissioning of facility automation systems either at vendor facilities or at the customer’s site during installation, and lead an automation commissioning team.
  • Advise customers on technology selection, project execution strategy, and technical problems.
  • Develop project budget and schedules, integrating with engineering partner and client project management teams.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and clients as needed.
  • Lead a team of facility automation engineers, overseeing and reviewing their work as the client’s primary point of contact.
  • Plan and develop system documentation deliverables, including functional requirements specifications and detailed design specifications for a variety of applications.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).
  • Support start-up and commissioning activities at customer sites.
Qualifications
  • Experience with Siemens Apogee / Desigo platforms, Schneider EcoStruxure (EBO), Johnson Controls MetaSys, Honeywell Niagara BMS framework, or other relevant BMS platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC controls, utility controls, and environmental monitoring.
  • A self-starter acting as the working lead of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support project requirements in – approximately 25%.
Required Education and Experience
  • Relevant Associates Degree or B.S. in CHE, EE, ME, Comp. Eng, Systems Eng., Comp. Sci., or other related disciplines
  • 8-15 years of relevant experience
  • MS Office Experience
  • Experience with building access control systems, video surveillance systems, energy management systems, and lighting control systems
  • Windows and network troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as ISA and IEC.
  • Experience working in regulated industries, with pharmaceuticals industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with computer systems validation.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $80,000 to $200,000 annually. Individual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
