Job summary

Thompson Hospitality is seeking a Facilities Technician II to perform skilled maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance across campus facilities, including academic buildings, residence halls, and athletic facilities. This role requires independence with complex repairs and support to junior staff.

You will troubleshoot BAS, energy management, and coordinate with contractors while ensuring safety regulations. Strong problem-solving, reading blueprints, and tool proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or related skilled trade.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Experience with commercial or institutional facilities is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Proficient use of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment and testing instruments.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled maintenance and repairs on campus buildings, systems and infrastructure.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and BAS systems.
• Diagnose and repair complex issues with electrical circuits, plumbing, HVAC components, and equipment.
• Repair or replace motors, pumps, valves, thermostats, lighting, door hardware, and related components.
• Respond to advanced work orders and emergency repairs promptly.
• Inspect facilities to identify deficiencies, safety hazards, and repair needs.
• Assist in BAS and energy management system troubleshooting.
• Support room setups, event preparations, and furniture relocations.
• Mentor and guide Facilities Technician I staff as needed.
• Maintain documentation of work performed and materials used.
• Assist contractors during maintenance, renovations and capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety, environmental regulations.
• Participate in on-call rotation and weather-related operations.
• Promote energy efficiency and sustainable practices.
