Job summary

Vast seeks a Senior Facilities Technician to support the Mojave Test Site in developing systems for space station components. This full-time, non-exempt role reports to the Facilities Manager and requires strong maintenance and coordination skills for a mission-focused facility.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry, plus managing contractors, tracking work in CMMS, and operating lifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency is required.
• 4+ years of facilities/maintenance experience.
• Experience in aerospace facilities is preferred.

• Carry out break/fix repairs such as painting, carpentry, and equipment installation.
• Manage contractors and coordinate site work with engineers and supervisors.

• Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts as needed.
• Ensure safety and compliance at the Mojave Test Site.

Vast is looking for a Senior Facilities Technician, reporting to the Facilities Manager – Mojave Test Site, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations and the E-2 LOX/Kerosene oxidizer-rich staged combustion engine.

This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Mojave Test Site location.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and/or perform routine building maintenance tasks including troubleshooting and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC and/or carpentry requests
• Complete various break/fix repairs to the facilities and premises as assigned. Some examples could include painting, patching walls, replacing ceiling tiles, assembling furniture, office equipment, and kitchen equipment, installing, replacing, and repairing carpet, tiles, etc.
• Day to day management of various contractors
• Perform job walk-downs with vendors, engineers, supervisors, and managers
• Track all work in the Facilities CMMS system
• Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts when needed

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 4+ years of facilities and/or maintenance experience

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience with facilities within an aerospace industry
• Experience in construction, project management, equipment maintenance, and tenant improvements
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), concrete, framing, and industrial gas trade
• Knowledge of basic engineering and construction principles and methods
• Familiar with industrial air fittings and maintenance
• Able to read instructions and blueprints
• Experience in a fast-paced work environment
• Self-motivated and works well with others
• Manage company provided set of basic maintenance tools
• Safety training and use of forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes & hoists, fall protection equipment

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to work overtime, or weekends to support critical mission milestones
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, unassisted
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
• Must have a valid CA driver’s license

Pay Range: California

$37-$52 USD
