Job summary

Vast in Long Beach is seeking a Sr. Components Technician to support the development of systems for Haven Station hardware.

You will assemble, test, and install flight hardware, including high pressure fluids and oxygen systems, under supervision of the Senior Manager of Components & Subassemblies. This full-time, non-exempt role requires 2+ years in manufacturing or related field, HS diploma, and willingness to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, test, operations, HVAC or related role.
  • Experience with precision cleaning and assembly of precision-cleaned systems.
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install and test flight hardware including high pressure fluids, oxygen, and refrigerant systems.
  • Fabricate, clean and activate ground support equipment and test articles with a focus on pressurized ground systems.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair and maintain manufacturing and testing equipment from vacuum to 20,000 psig, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Support test campaigns via build and operation of ground support and flight equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory/workshop cleanliness, stocking of consumables, tool control, and support infrastructure.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions to support activities.

Vast is looking for a Sr. Components Technician, reporting to the Senior Manager of Components & Subassemblies, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of worlds first human-rated space stations.

This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install and test flight hardware, including high pressure fluids systems, oxygen systems, and refrigerant systems
  • Fabricate, clean, and activate ground support equipment and test articles in partnership with engineering, with a focus on pressurized ground systems
  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and modify manufacturing and testing equipment, including pressurized systems from vacuum to 20,000 psig, pneumatic and hydraulic, oxygen systems, refrigerant systems, and data and control systems
  • Support development, acceptance, qualification, and investigative test campaigns via build and operation of ground support and flight equipment
  • Maintain laboratory and workshop, including cleanliness, stocking of consumables, tool control, and supporting design and build infrastructure to support above activities
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions in support of above activities
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, test, operations, HVAC or other relevant role
  • High School Diploma or equivalency certificate
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience in the aerospace, power and gas, military, or other high-reliability manufacturing industry
  • Experience in the HVAC or industrial gas industry
  • Experience with precision cleaning and assembly of precision-cleaned systems
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment
  • Experience building, modifying, troubleshooting, maintaining, and operating high pressure equipment
  • Experience building, modifying, troubleshooting, maintaining, and operating automation and control systems, including data acquisition systems, programmable logic controllers, etc
  • Experience with hazardous systems - cryogenic, flammable, pyrophoric, hypergolic, or high voltage
  • Demonstrated success in a role requiring quick thinking and problem solving
  • Experience with forklifts, cranes, aerial platforms, and other industrial equipment
  • Experience with JIRA project management software and Confluence
  • Experience with relevant aerospace testing standards (SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-810G, GSFC-STD-7000B, etc.)
  • Skilled in operation of machinery and hand tools
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing, ambiguous environment balancing multiple projects with flexibility
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
  • Specific certifications, as appropriate

Pay Range: California

$41.39 - $58.76 USD
