Job summary

Hydrogen Group is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities & Pipeline Engineer for a 6–12 month contract to support midstream facilities and pipeline infrastructure. You will provide technical and analytical expertise across existing assets and new projects, delivering practical engineering solutions.

The role covers design, optimization, sustaining engineering for compression, pumping, storage and associated infrastructure, with travel to field locations as required.

Qualifications

Job description

Hydrogen Group is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities & Pipeline Engineer for a 6–12 month contract opportunity.

This is a hands-on engineering role supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of midstream facilities and pipeline infrastructure. The successful candidate will provide technical and analytical expertise across existing assets and new projects, developing practical engineering solutions for complex operational and facility challenges.

Candidates may have a background in natural gas, crude oil or NGL infrastructure – experience across all three is not required.

The role

As a Senior Facilities & Pipeline Engineer, you will support pipeline and facility design, optimization and sustaining engineering activities across compression, pumping, storage and associated infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify technical issues and develop engineering solutions for compression, pumping, storage, pipeline and associated facilities
  • Provide engineering expertise supporting the transportation of natural gas, crude oil and/or NGLs
  • Support the design and modification of compressor stations, pump stations, terminals, process facilities and associated pipeline infrastructure
  • Evaluate the feasibility of new technologies and processes for pipeline transportation and storage applications
  • Develop technical scopes for facility upgrades, expansions and improvement projects
  • Prepare and review project cost estimates and support economic evaluations
  • Evaluate engineering alternatives based on safety, cost, efficiency, reliability and operational performance
  • Provide sustaining engineering and technical support for existing facilities
  • Troubleshoot operational and equipment issues and implement continuous improvement solutions
  • Support equipment evaluation, specification and vendor selection
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, construction, project management, safety and other technical stakeholders
  • Provide technical support during construction and project execution
  • Analyze operational and engineering data to identify optimization opportunities
  • Identify project risks and develop technically appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Support project scopes, schedules and cost estimates
  • Manage multiple engineering priorities and technical deliverables
  • Ensure engineering solutions comply with applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Travel to field locations as required to support engineering and project activities
What we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Extensive engineering experience within midstream, pipeline or related energy infrastructure
  • Experience with natural gas, crude oil or NGL systems – experience across all three is not required
  • Hands-on experience with pipeline and facility design
  • Experience with compressor stations, pump stations, terminals, process plants or similar facilities
  • Knowledge of compression and/or pumping equipment and associated systems
  • Experience supporting facility upgrades, expansions or capital projects
  • Experience developing scopes and cost estimates
  • Strong understanding of engineering safety, reliability and operational requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to evaluate multiple technical solutions and make sound engineering recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering, construction and operations teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Highly desirable experience
  • Midstream facility design
  • Natural gas transmission
  • Crude oil pipeline systems
  • NGL transportation infrastructure
  • Compressor and pump station design
  • Reciprocating or centrifugal compressors
  • Centrifugal pumps
  • Electric motor drives, reciprocating engines or gas turbines
  • DOT/PHMSA regulatory requirements
  • API, ASME and related industry codes and standards
  • Project cost estimating and economic evaluation
  • Vendor and equipment selection
  • Data analysis and operational optimization
  • FERC-related experience
Contract details

Contract: 6–12 months, with potential for longer-term or permanent opportunities
Schedule: Monday–Friday, on-site
Pay rate: $80.00 per hour
Travel: Typically 5–10%, increasing during major project activity as required

This position requires regular office attendance as well as the ability to travel to field locations and work in operational environments when required.
