Job summary

The Facilities Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer I/II/III/Sr. at EQT will guide instrumentation and automation strategy for upstream facilities, collaborating with engineers and external partners to optimize control systems and safety.

You will own design, standards, budgeting, and performance metrics, travel up to 15-20%, and integrate data initiatives with machine learning while maintaining ASME/IEEE guidelines.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in automation and controls.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• Valid driver's license required.
• General understanding of Process Flow & Equipment Used For Separation of Fluids On Common Oil and Gas Production Wells.
• Understanding of ASME, ANSI, API, ISA, NFPA, IEEE, IEC 61131, NEC Specs and Standards.
• Hazard Mitigation and Root Cause Analysis Experience.
• Understanding of engineering drawing packages to include cause and effects / BOM development / controller programming / drawings.
• General understanding of Edge Device Computing and associated communication / programming.
• Economic Acumen to include prior cost and project management.
• Communication and Presentation Skills.
• Technical writing capabilities to include Design Specifications and SOP generation.
• Extreme Ownership Mentality.
• Able to take complex workflows/ideas and communicate them concisely to achieve results.
• Able to Work Independently as needed.
• Ability to travel 15-20% of the time.
• Ability to work flexible work hours inclusive of weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise in all phases of measurement and instrumentation design.
• “Owner” of the Automation / Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) engineering design / planning / execution / cost management / project closeout for all upstream facilities.
• Responsible for development & evolution of all standards / specifications / guiding documentation leveraged by the engineering team surrounding automation and I&E.
• Manage all projects / jobs associated with M&I & I&E work associated with upstream facilities.
• Responsible / Consulted for developing a yearly budget for M&I & I&E projects year over year.
• Develop and maintain key performance indicators and metrics yearly that align with executive targets and goals.
• Responsible for I&E & Electrical equipment identification / accountability for all long lead items associated with new design / installations and repair / upgrade projects.
• Work with drafting / 3rd party engineering firm on cause and effects / bill of material / controller programing / control panel drawings / JB drawings / instrument cable schedules / interconnect drawings / heat trace panel drawings/design/isos / grounding / electrical power drawings.
• Review and approve the instrument index that will be used for newly designed facilities and repair / upgrade work.
• Lead internal and external meetings to review designs and models for all M&I / Electrical related projects associated with upstream facilities.
• Align standards / operations with all M&I Engineers assigned internal and external to the department.
• Optimize all on-location controls/automation working alongside Production Operations counterparts.
• Owner of network architecture drawings for all upstream facilities.
• Develop and maintain control applications to ensure they are optimized for useability and meet control requirements.
• Maintain application revision control and documentation of revision history for upstream facilities.
• Responsible for the standard base HMI and site controller configurations for all upstream facilities.
• Lead the path forward for the engineering team developing a bridge between upstream facility data and machine learning.
