Job summary

ABM Industries in Oakland is seeking a Senior/Lead Engineer to oversee the engineering department, manage preventive maintenance, and coordinate repair operations across the facility. You will ensure safety, energy efficiency, and compliance with AES standards while supervising a team of engineers and technicians.

The role requires a robust background in facility operations, HVAC and electrical systems, and building automation.

Qualifications

• Experience commensurate with a senior facility for the position of Senior/Lead Engineer; 5+ years progressive operations experience.
• Strong employee relations, coaching and training skills.
• State/local license for Stationary Engineer and/or HVAC, plus universal refrigerant recovery license.
• BOMA accredited courses desirable.
• Preferred certifications: High-rise Fire Safety Director, Haz-Mat Certification, Indoor Air Quality Certification, LEED Certification.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with building automation systems and OSHA ACM awareness requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and implement preventive maintenance and repair operations at the facility.
• Schedule emergency repairs according to priority and staff abilities.
• Provide technical guidance to subordinates in electric theory and mechanical, hydraulic systems, and safety procedures.
• Inspect equipment to ensure proper maintenance per AES standards.
• Develop and implement site policies to improve plant operations.
• Coordinate capital equipment life-cycle planning and long-range replacement requirements.
• Assist in budgeting and in managing department plans and resource allocation.
• Promote safety, communication, and a professional work environment.
