Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Facilities Controls Engineer to support the Facilities Operations Group. You will troubleshoot and optimize control systems, lead vendor scoping, and implement improvements across PLC/SCADA networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
• Minimum four years in the field or similar role.
• Experience with Rockwell and Siemens control systems and HMI/SCADA platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support operation and maintenance of facilities control systems; troubleshoot and modify program code.
• Lead vendors in scope-of-work development; review design packages and start-up of new equipment.
• Design control panels and upgrades to improve system functionality and reliability.
• Collaborate with operators, technicians, and process engineers on process improvements.
• Manage OT network components and cybersecurity practices for plant networks.
• Maintain documentation including topology diagrams and IP/VLAN plans.

Position Summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is looking for a highly motivated, accountable individual to fill the role of Facilities Controls Engineer supporting the Facilities Operations Group.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Providesengineeringsupportfortheoperationandmaintenanceoffacilitiescontrolssystemsbytroubleshootingandmodifyingprogramcodes.
• Leadcontractorsthroughthedevelopmentofthescopeofworkbyreviewingcontroldesignpackages,P&IDdrawings,programdesign,simulation,testing,andthestartupofnewequipment.
• Identify,developanddesigncontrolpanels,improvementsandupgradestocontrolsystemsforenhancedsystemfunctionalityandreliability.
• Collaboratewithoperators,technicians,andprocessengineerstodevelop,implement,andexecuteprocessimprovements.
• Managevirtualizedserverinfrastructure(ESXi/vSphere)fordomaincontrollers,SCADA,historian,andPLCmanagement,anddesignhigh-availabilityOTnetworksusingCiscoandAllen-Bradleyswitches.Configurestaticanddynamicrouting,optimizePLC/SCADAtraffic,andperformdeeppacketanalysistoidentifylatencyissues.ManagefirewallstoenforceOT-ITsegmentationandconductvulnerabilityassessments.
• Handlesfibermediainventory,integratesPLCprotocolswithIT,maintainscomprehensivedocumentation(topologydiagrams,IP/VLANplans),ensurescompliance,providesTier2/3networksupport,andcollaborateswithvariousprocess,IT,andfacilitiesteams.

Skills and Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Bachelor of Science degree in related Engineering field.
• A minimum of four years of experience in a relevant field is required.
• SoftwareknowledgeorexperiencewithRockwellRSLogix/Studio5000,AvevaSystemPlatform,SiemensSIMATICManagerStep7,SiemensWinCCOpenArchitectureandIgnitionHMIisaplus.
• FamiliarityandexperiencewithRockwellControlLogix/CompactLogix/MicroLogix,SiemensS7-400CPUHardware.
• Knowledgeofindustrialnetworksandcommunicationprotocols(Ethernet,Modbus,Profibus,Profinet,fiberoptics,Devicenet,RS485).KnowledgeofITnetworking,Firewall,virtualization,Servermanagement,ProcessInstrumentations,Industrialcontrolpanels,MotorControlPanels,andVFDs.

The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
