Position Summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is looking for a highly motivated, accountable individual to fill the role of Facilities Controls Engineer supporting the Facilities Operations Group.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provides engineering support for the operation and maintenance of facilities controls systems by troubleshooting and modifying program codes.


• Lead contractors through the development of the scope of work by reviewing control design packages, P&ID drawings, program design, simulation, testing, and the startup of new equipment.


• Identify, develop and design control panels, improvements and upgrades to control systems for enhanced system functionality and reliability.


• Collaborate with operators, technicians, and process engineers to develop, implement, and execute process improvements.


• Manage virtualized server infrastructure (ESXi/vSphere) for domain controllers, SCADA, historian, and PLC management, and design high‑availability OT networks using Cisco and Allen‑Bradley switches.


• Configure static and dynamic routing, optimize PLC/SCADA traffic, and perform deep packet analysis to identify latency issues.


• Manage firewalls to enforce OT‑IT segmentation and conduct vulnerability assessments.


• Handles fiber media inventory, integrates PLC protocols with IT, maintains comprehensive documentation (topology diagrams, IP/VLAN plans), ensures compliance, provides Tier 2/3 network support, and collaborates with various process, IT, and facilities teams.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in related Engineering field.


• A minimum of four years of experience in a relevant field is required.


• Software knowledge or experience with Rockwell RS Logix/Studio 5000, Aveva System Platform, Siemens SIMATIC Manager Step 7, Siemens WinCC Open Architecture and Ignition HMI is a plus.


• Familiarity and experience with Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix/MicroLogix, Siemens S7-400 CPU Hardware.


• Knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols (Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, fiber optics, Devicenet, RS 485).


• Knowledge of IT networking, Firewall, virtualization, Server management, Process Instrumentations, Industrial control panels, Motor Control Panels, and VFDs.

Total Rewards

The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.

At Samsung Austin Semiconductor, base pay is just one part of our total compensation package. The base compensation for this role will depend on education, experience, skills, and location.
