Job description

We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

Product Creation and Industrialization (PC&I) brings together Ford’s vehicle, electric, digital and design teams with our global manufacturing system. Working as one end-to-end organization, we turn ideas into high-quality vehicles, software and experiences across gas, hybrid and electric, designed around what customers need.

In this position...

As a Senior Fabricator, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and welding of metal and mixed-material components and vehicle structures. You will interpret engineering designs, operate a wide range of manual and CNC shop equipment, and perform precision MIG and TIG welding across steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. You will also mentor junior fabricators and contribute to the development of improved fabrication processes. Your craftsmanship and attention to detail will be essential in building simple to complex prototype components for the next generation of vehicles.

What you'll do...
  • Read, interpret, and build to blueprints, 3D CAD models, and engineering drawings.

  • Perform MIG welding on steel and TIG welding on aluminum, steel, and stainless steel to fabricate structural and cosmetic components.

  • Utilize handheld power and pneumatic tools such as grinders, sanders, drills, impacts, and saws for material prep, trimming, and finishing.

  • Operate shop equipment such as waterjet, CNC press brake, manual mill, lathe, bandsaw, belt and disc grinders, hydraulic shear, hydraulic press, table saw, and miter saw.

  • Prep materials and fabricate simple to complex components and assemblies from steel, aluminum, stainless steel, carbon fiber, fiberglass, foams, and plastics.

  • Execute assigned fabrication tasks independently, meeting quality standards and deadlines, while proactively tracking, documenting, and communicating project status to management and engineers.

  • Maintain a clean and productive workplace, adhering to established safety processes.

You'll have...
  • 5-7+ years of MIG welding experience on steel.

  • 5-7+ years of TIG welding experience on aluminum, steel, and stainless steel.

  • Experienced with 2D and 3D CAD software.

  • Experience operating fabrication-related CNC equipment (e.g., waterjet, laser cutter, press brake).

  • Proficient layout and measurement skills utilizing calipers, tape measures, protractors, and fixturing tools.

  • Comfortable handling and working with materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, carbon fiber, fiberglass, foams, and plastics.

  • High attention to detail and organization.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually.

  • Physical job requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50-70+lbs.

  • Stand for long periods of time, bend or twist body, kneel, stoop, or crouch.

Even better, you may have...
  • Composite layup experience.

  • Experience building prototype vehicles.

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:

  • Immediate medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage
  • Paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
  • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments and more
  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
  • Tuition assistance
  • Established and active employee resource groups
  • Paid time off for individual and team community service
  • Generous vacation time, sick/personal time, and paid holidays, including between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day
