Job summary

Matrix Service Company is seeking a Senior Estimator to develop detailed fabrication estimates for industrial components such as pressure vessels, pipe spools, and structural steel. The role requires quantity take-offs, cross-trade coordination, and cost-effective planning backed by historical cost data.

The candidate should have 7+ years in estimating or field engineering, with at least 4 years in fabrication estimating for vessels, piping and steel, and be proficient in Microsoft Office, Sage,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• 7+ years in field/office estimating; 4+ years with fabrication estimates for vessels, piping and structural steel.
• Familiar with construction terminology.
• Ability to visualize the finished product from drawings and documents.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work independently.
• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Understanding of heavy industrial facilities operations like refineries or terminals.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; Sage estimating; MS Project or Primavera; databases.
• Willing to travel and work extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed fabrication estimates for pressure vessels, pipe spools and structural steel.
• Perform quantity take-offs from documents and enter into a standardized database.
• Solicit subcontractor and vendor pricing; evaluate bids for completeness.
• Identify drawing deficiencies and adjust pricing accordingly.
• Coordinate scope clarifications and ensure comprehensive total estimates.
• Produce cost estimates from partial information; preserve traceability to defining documents.
• Support constructability reviews and cost-saving discussions.
• Organize estimates to meet project needs and cash-flow considerations.
