Job summary

CJ Schwan’s is seeking a Sr External Communications & Public Relations Manager to lead enterprise-wide external communications and public relations from our Hopkins, MN office. You will partner with senior leaders to drive strategic messaging, executive visibility and digital engagement, while guiding a high-performing external communications function.

You will serve as the primary media contact, craft messaging for stakeholders, and coordinate with Marketing on earned media campaigns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field preferred.
• 8-12 years of progressive experience in public relations or external communications, leading strategies and agencies.
• Strong media relations, executive communications and crisis management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute external communications strategies to strengthen CJ Schwan’s reputation and brand visibility.
• Serve as primary media contact for national, trade, business and local outlets.
• Lead crisis and issues management with rapid-response communications.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify executive visibility and thought leadership opportunities.
• Manage external agencies, budgets and measurement of PR effectiveness.
• Oversee website and social media content strategy in coordination with Marketing.
