Job summary

Yora Sigma in the US seeks a Senior Exterior Trim Engineer to lead the design, development, release and launch of exterior trim systems for automotive applications. You will own complex CAD concepts (CATIA V5/V6) and drive validation with cross-functional teams.

You will work with thermoplastic/thermoset materials, support tooling and production readiness, and collaborate with suppliers to ensure Class A surface quality and finish during vehicle launches.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in automotive design and development.
• Proven experience designing exterior trim components.
• Experience with vehicle launches is required.
• Strong CAD skills, preferably CATIA V5/V6.
• Experience with automotive suppliers.
• BSc in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Do you want to take automotive components from concept all the way to production? Are you passionate about combining great design with smart engineering, manufacturability and quality?

We are looking for a Senior Exterior Trim Engineer to join Yora for an exciting assignment within the automotive industry in the US.

Location: California or Michigan – On-site

The work sits at the intersection of design, engineering, manufacturing and vehicle integration. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, design, manufacturing and suppliers, taking ownership from early concepts through validation and launch.

Your mission and day-to-day tasks

As a Senior Exterior Trim Engineer, you will take a leading role in the design, development, release and launch of exterior trim systems.

You Will

• Design and develop exterior trim components from concept to production
• Create complex CAD concepts and models, preferably using CATIA V5/V6
• Engineer plastic components with focus on quality, functionality, weight, cost and manufacturability
• Work with thermoplastic and thermoset materials and Class A manufacturing technologies
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, suppliers and other engineering teams
• Drive validation, testing and failure avoidance throughout the development process
• Support tooling, production readiness and vehicle launch
• Solve complex packaging, integration and 3D engineering challenges

Your experience may include areas such as rocker panels, sill trims, side valences, underbody systems, wheelhouse liners, spoilers, appliqués and other interior or exterior plastic components.

Who are you?

We believe you are an experienced automotive engineer who enjoys taking ownership and solving complex problems from engineering fundamentals.

You Have

• 5+ years of experience within automotive design and development
• Strong hands-on experience designing plastic automotive components, interior or exterior
• Proven vehicle launch experience – this is a must
• Experience working with automotive suppliers
• Strong CAD skills, preferably CATIA V5 or V6
• Knowledge of thermoplastic and/or thermoset resin materials
• Solid understanding of validation testing and failure avoidance
• A BSc in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline

Experience with Class A surfaces, tooling, fit & finish, gap & flush, aerodynamics, lighting integration, thermal expansion, structural design and paint processes is considered a strong advantage.
