Job description

Location : The Senior Expert of Product Compliance North America is a remote position from the US with travel required to meet with key partners. The Senior Expert of Product Compliance North America will be responsible for product compliance concerning substances and mixtures for the EMD Electronics business in the United States and Canada, ensuring adherence to all applicable government standards.

Principle Accountabilities :
  1. Provide expertise in the classification and labeling of substances and mixtures according to US Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) (29 CFR 1910.1200) and Canada's Hazardous Product Act, based on physicochemical, toxicological, and ecotoxicological data.
  2. Author safety data sheets per local requirements.
  3. Track emerging regulations in the United States and Canada and communicate their impact to the business.
  4. Participate in New Product Development, ensuring products meet safety and regulatory obligations prior to commercialization.
  5. Support technical associates with customer regulatory questions and surveys.
  6. Assist in acquisition support and product risk reviews.
  7. Maintain and update regulatory data (3rd party content) for all substances and evaluate impacts on business portfolios.
  8. Support Global Label Management (SAP GLM), ensuring regional product labeling complies with GHS and Dangerous Goods standards.
  9. Act as the local Dangerous Goods Specialist, supporting product classification, dangerous good master data, DG compliance checks, transportation paperwork, and regional compliance with DOT, IATA, IMDG, ADR, etc.
  10. Review raw materials introductions as needed, working with site safety professionals to ensure proper handling and compliance.
  11. Actively participate in management of change, ensuring regulatory/hazard updates are effectively communicated to the business and supply chains.
  12. Serve as the key user for SAP EHS for Product Safety, managing regulatory updates and enhancements.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications :
  • BS degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or an equivalent scientific discipline
  • 5+ years of Product Safety experience, with emphasis on Hazard Communication, Regulatory Compliance, Dangerous Goods classifications, or related areas
  • Working knowledge of SAP EHS
  • 10% domestic and international travel
Preferred Qualifications :
  • Certified Dangerous Goods Professional (CDGP)
  • High-level knowledge of U.S. EPA Toxic Substances Control Act requirements
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with learning technologies and navigating information systems and tools
  • Ability to read and understand regulations and technical research
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills; additional languages are an asset
  • Strong knowledge of global Product Safety regulations, e.g., US Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) (29 CFR 1910.1200) or UN GHS
