Job summary

Princeton University seeks an Exhibitions Manager to implement the SoA Exhibition Program, inventorying and tracking materials, overseeing production, installation, and budget matters.

The role involves coordinating with faculty, staff, and external partners, hiring subcontractors, and ensuring exhibitions align with the SoA’s mission. Weekend/evening hours and occasional travel are required.

Qualifications

  • > Master’s degree in architecture, art, or related field is required
  • > At least five years of experience in exhibitions management, including best practices around art-handling and gallery environments
  • > Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • > Demonstrated organizational ability and attention to detail is required
  • > Strong team skills and ability to work collaboratively and independently across multiple disciplines with diverse groups of people
  • > Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines, overseeing multiple projects
  • > Fluent experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Google G-Suite, Microsoft Office, social media platforms and other cloud-based platforms
  • > Ability to travel as needed

Responsibilities

  • Exhibition Planning, Production, and Installation: Manage logistics and administrative duties for ongoing exhibitions
  • Plan and manage the annual exhibitions schedule coordinating with curricular activities
  • Oversee multiple exhibitions and installation/deinstallation
  • Coordinate organization, production timelines, and exhibition spaces
  • Manage content creation, art direction, and marketing materials
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Risk Management, Procurement, Shipping and Receiving, and General Counsel
  • Arrange and manage legal loan agreements, insurance and contracts
  • Archival Management: inventory, catalogue and store archival materials
  • Collaborate with Records Management and libraries for off-site storage
  • Develop best practices for archival requests and material use
  • Propose exhibitions based on archival material
  • Gallery Management: day-to-day exhibition operations and storage
  • Support building maintenance and inventory of display systems
  • Budgetary Oversight: prepare budgets and track expenditures
  • Onboard vendors, generate requisitions, process invoices, and reconcile reimbursements
  • Review and approve student timesheets
