Job summary

Harvard Museums of Science & Culture (HMSC) at Harvard University seeks a Senior Exhibition Designer to oversee all 3D and graphic design for exhibits. You will supervise a design team, set priorities, and lead projects from inception through completion in collaboration with the Director of Exhibitions and the Executive Director.

The role requires advanced knowledge of museum exhibit design, visual content interpretation, signage, and graphic production, reporting to the Director of Exhibitions

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in exhibition design, architecture, interior design, or related field.
  • 5+ years in 3D and graphic design for museum exhibits.
  • 2+ years supervisory and performance management experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in Vectorworks, InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator.
  • Cover letter required for consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of 3D and graphic design for HMSC exhibit projects.
  • Produce renderings, modeling, 3D visualizations, floorplans and elevations using Vectorworks.
  • Collaborate with curators and collections staff to meet standards of care and conservation.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to coordinate exhibit production.
  • Research prices and quality of products and vendors to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Manage external contractors when necessary.
